As of 10am, Mohamed Salah has 52% of the Ballon d'Or public vote in his favour
Liverpool and Egypt forward Mohamed Salah has a global appeal, we all know that, but does he really deserve to win the 2018 Balon d'Or?
The 26-year-old broke the record of scoring the most goals in a 38-game Premier League campaign, last season, beating Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane to the Golden Boot award with 32 goals for his club.
He also scooped the PFA Players' Player of the Year, FWA Footballer of the Year, African Footballer of the Year, BBC African Footballer of the Year, PFA Team of the Year, Liverpool's Fans Player of the Year, Liverpool's Players' Player of the Year AND the Premier League Player of the Season.
It has been an incredible year for Salah, and clearly thousands of people believe he should be crowned the 2018 Balon d'Or winner.
The forward has so far received 53% of the vote on the official
France Football website, while Lionel Messi lags behind with just 28% of the overall votes.
In total, over 220,000 people have made their feelings known in the poll, and rather surprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo sits in third with just 5%, despite winning the Champions League with Real Madrid, among other feats.
